What it's for

Grows in the garden and can be used for a variety of productions including for natural dyes.

Beetroot is a vegetable you grow in the garden on the Gourmet farm just like onions, it is available from level 0 and you can buy it in the shop for 100 Dollars. In the game it serves as the input for Labskaus in The Mermaid Bay and for red, orange and purple dye in the Dye factory. Unlike onions it is not used in the bakery or for making other resources apart from seeds, so its uses are narrower, but regular thanks to the dyes.

How to get it

Regular planting for 130 Dollars gives 44 beetroots in 3 hours at garden level 1 and the yield grows with every garden level, in the Glorious garden you start straight at 102. Planting Special beetroot seeds takes 8 hours but yields from 120 at garden level 1 and from 276 in the Glorious garden, so it comes in handy whenever you want to build up a bigger stock for the dye factory in one go.

What to do with it

You send beetroot mainly to The Mermaid Bay for Labskaus and to the Dye factory or Efficient dye factory for red, orange and purple dye, or to the Nursery or Farm laboratory to make Special beetroot seeds.

Tip from a veteran player Beetroot is the input for three dye recipes at once - red, orange and purple - orange shares the recipe with onions and purple with cabbage, so it pays to have those two crops stocked as well when making dyes.

Most common mistake A common mistake is to grow beetroot only in bursts when you run out of dye - it works better to keep it in production continuously, because three different dye recipes consume it at the same time.
