Inventory and temporary storage

The inventory in Big Farm gathers everything you build, collect or win but don't currently have out on the farm. It splits into the local inventory of each individual farm and the shared temporary storage for rewards from events and tasks. On top of that come collectibles for the Cooperative and rarer pieces like themed buildings or flags. Anyone who doesn't know what belongs where sooner or later runs into a full storage and has to delete something.

The local inventory and temporary storage aren't menu decoration, they're a necessity - without the local inventory you'd have to build every farm remodel from scratch again, and without temporary storage you'd lose event rewards you have no room for right now. It pays to check both regularly so a full temporary storage doesn't catch you out exactly when you win something valuable.

The local inventory belongs to one farm, temporary storage waits for your decision

Big Farm has two separate storages and players routinely mix them up. The local inventory always belongs to one specific farm - you store a decoration or building you currently have placed there and later put it back from there without waiting for construction. Temporary storage, on the other hand, holds things you've only just earned from completed events and tasks and are still deciding which farm to send them to.

As soon as you place something from temporary storage on the farm you picked, it's permanently assigned to it and from then on you'll only find it in that farm's local inventory. The main farm, gourmet farm and flower farm each have their own local inventory, so a decoration stored on one of them doesn't carry over to another.

Storing a decoration or building saves time and workers

When you don't want to demolish a decoration on the farm for good, just click it and pick Store from the circular menu. The decoration goes into the local inventory and from there you can put it back exactly where it was at any time, without waiting for construction to finish.

Buildings can be stored the same way, not just decorations. Here you need to reckon with two limits - the local building inventory has its own capacity, so you may need to make room before you put something in it, and storing a building can run into a shortage of workers. In that case you have to build another house, or free up workers by storing a different building instead.

Temporary storage looks after event rewards until you find them a spot on the farm

Everything you win in events or get for completed tasks drops into temporary storage - typically decorations and mystery boxes with valuable rewards, which can be opened right here, without having to build anything. Game events also run their own separate event storage that holds items tied to that one event only.

Temporary storage has a limited capacity, and when it's full the game tells you the moment you win something else. There are two ways to make room, either you delete decorations you don't want to place anyway, or you scrap them for parts and at least get something back out of them. If you don't make room in time, you can lose newly arriving rewards, so it pays to go through the temporary storage as you go rather than once it all piles up.

Collectibles get Cooperative projects started

Collectibles keep showing up as you harvest products on the farm and they're used to kick off Cooperative projects. You'll find the pieces you've gathered in the Collectibles section of the inventory, and when you hover over one, the game shows you straight away which activity you can get it from - handy when you're missing the last piece of a set and don't know what to harvest.

When a set is incomplete and you don't feel like waiting, the remaining items can be bought with Gold from your personal account and used right away. The items you've put in aren't lost for good either, you can take them back out of the set at any time and they return to the inventory.

Themed buildings, flags and equipment are among the rarer rewards

Themed buildings are the strongest reward you can get in Big Farm - they do the same job as regular farm buildings, only more efficiently, and on top of that they have a unique look. You earn them by placing in events and they wait in the inventory, from where you build them just like anything else out of temporary storage.

Flags are another reward from events, this time purely decorative - anyone else can come and visit your farm, so flags are mainly there for showing off. Besides those, the inventory also holds equipment and special currencies needed for construction, where how to get and use them is shown right in that item's overview.

Tip from a veteran player Before you dive into a new event, go through the temporary storage and scrap the old decorations you're never going to place anyway - that frees up room before the prize lands, so you don't have to work out in a hurry what to delete.
Most common mistake The most common mistake is leaving the temporary storage crammed with old decorations until the last moment - then an event reward arrives, the storage is full, and the game puts you in front of a choice of what to delete or scrap in a rush so you don't lose the prize.

FAQ

How to get a decoration from the local inventory back onto the farm
In the local inventory you select the stored decoration and place it on the farm without waiting for construction. It only works on the farm where the decoration was stored, though.
Why a decoration can't be moved to another farm
Because every farm - main, gourmet and flower - has its own local inventory, and a decoration stored on one of them can only be put back where it came from.
What to do when temporary storage is full
You have to make room - either delete the decorations from temporary storage, or scrap them for parts. Without freeing up space you risk losing newly arriving event rewards.
What collectibles in the inventory are for
You need collectibles to start Cooperative projects. You get them by harvesting products on the farm, and in the inventory the game shows you which activity a particular piece comes from.
