The Mermaid Bay

Special buildings Flower farm Fishing area

A strong later building for a developed fish economy, but given how demanding it is on goods, space and money it isn't worth building before your supply chain is genuinely sorted.

What it's for

A place where culinary diversity comes together, where calamaries, crabs, and vegetables join hands! Maybe the delicious smell will draw one or two mermaids to this place.

Produces

The Mermaid Bay is a sprawling 15x12 restaurant linking the Flower farm with the Fishing area, turning your catch along with vegetables and eggs into finished dishes like carp piroshki or tuna tacos. It's a more advanced processing building that unlocks at player level 12 and can be upgraded almost all the way to player level 100. The recipes eat up a wide range of ingredients, carp, tuna, perch and herring, but also cabbage, eggs, corn, apples, truffles, shrimp or seaweed. It pays off for players who already have both their fish and their crop production running and want to squeeze more value out of it.

When to build it

Level 1 unlocks at player level 12 for 98,500 dollars and the build takes 7 hours, so you can get it up relatively early. It only really makes sense once you have a steady supply of at least several input goods at the same time, otherwise it will just sit there unused. Given the 15x12 footprint you'll need to clear a serious chunk of space in advance, and one building per farm is plenty.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading here is an expensive and lengthy business, the price climbs from just under a hundred thousand at level 1 to 14.77 million dollars and at the highest recorded levels the build takes over three and a half days. The yield only rises slightly on the big batches, carp piroshki goes from 50 to 56 pieces for instance, but on the smaller recipes the jump is more noticeable, the fresh bluefish buffet leaps from 11 to 17 pieces and baked perch with apples from 20 to 26. So it's worth upgrading gradually, especially if the smaller batches are what you use most, since that's where the percentage gain is bigger.

Tip from a veteran player Before you start full production, think about which ingredient you currently have to spare, the building eats so many kinds at once that you can easily end up short of one ingredient for a recipe and leave the rest sitting unused in storage.
Most common mistake The most common mistake is building The Mermaid Bay the moment you hit level 12, even though you don't have production running for half the input goods yet, and then it stands idle most of the time and just eats up precious farm space.
