Halloween in Goodgame Big Farm
Halloween on the farm brings two separate seasonal events, both time-limited and both kept apart from your everyday harvesting and animal keeping. One is built around finding lost candles for jack-o'-lanterns, the other around handing out gifts and pranks to your neighbours. Both work a bit differently than you would guess from the name alone, so here is how I played them.
I treat both Halloween events as a nice break from ordinary farming - you don't need them to progress, but the small rewards and decorations for a few minutes a day spent on quests are worth it, especially if you manage to finish the quests before the event ends and you would have to buy the rest with Gold.
Jack-o'-lanterns made from lost candles scare wild boars away

The Halloween hunt is built on a simple story - pumpkins have turned up in the fields and jack-o'-lanterns can be made out of them, except every candle on the farm has gone missing and they need to be found. Finding the candles and completing the follow-up quests gradually puts the finished decoration together.
According to the quest text, a lit jack-o'-lantern also has a practical effect right on the farm - its spooky light scares off the wild boars that otherwise like to damage your fields. I make finishing the whole quest chain a priority precisely because of that effect, not just for the look of the decoration.
Unfinished quests can be bought with Gold once the event ends
The Halloween hunt has a fixed time limit. As soon as it runs out, the game offers you the option of buying the remaining rewards for Gold, even if you didn't manage to complete every single quest.
An important detail is that the quests you did finish before time ran out bring the price of buying the rest down. So it pays to tick quests off day by day even when it is obvious you won't get through the whole chain in time - every completed step counts and lowers what you end up paying for what you don't finish.
Trick or Treat decides whether you end up nice or naughty
Trick or Treat works differently from the candle hunt - it isn't about your own farm, but about visiting other players. Buying a gift and using it on someone else's farm speeds up production there, while a prank slows it down.
Whoever receives the gift or the prank is the one who gets the karma points - not the player who used it. The farm owner then spends the karma they have collected in the nice and naughty shop on charms, which they can use to pass luck or bad luck on to other players.
- A gift on someone else's farm speeds up production and gives the farm owner karma points.
- A prank on someone else's farm slows production down and gives the farm owner karma points just the same.
- Collected karma is exchanged in the shop for lucky or unlucky charms, which can then be sent on.
