Score events and the worldwide championship

The Worldwide Championship and global score events are two connected systems in which a farmer competes not only against the players on their own server, but against the entire Big Farm community across every server. The championship tallies points for practically every activity on your farm and decides the rewards for the whole server, while a global score event is a separate competition for one specific production building that you take part in by donating goods. Both run for a limited time and have their own leaderboards, which are worked out across all 25 servers in the game.

I find the championship worth following mainly for the championship coins and the bonus rewards handed out to the whole server - even an ordinary player can reach those without ever getting anywhere near the top of the worldwide leaderboard. A global score event is also one of the few chances where simply donating a product I'm already making gets me a new production building, without having to fight for first place.

Championship points add up from five different kinds of activity

The Worldwide Championship is built around a total score, which the game calls championship points. It's a simple sum of every point you collect during the event, split into five categories.

  • Farming points - for producing goods or harvesting on the main farm, gourmet farm and flower farm, and for harvesting in the greenhouse.
  • Cooperative points - for harvesting copse plants, producing goods in the cooperative village, playing missions or collecting from the communal tree.
  • Fishing points - for fishing, deep-sea fishing, sending Oleg Fisher off to train his fishing or to fish, producing goods in the dockyard and preparing dishes in The Mermaid Bay.
  • Horse points - for training a horse, winning tournament challenges, using items on the cooperative horse pasture or filling crates for Barnacle's ship.
  • Event points - for completing tasks during themed events and playing on temporary farms.

A server's leaderboard position is worked out from the combined championship points of every participating player on that server. That means anyone who gets involved at all contributes to the result - you don't have to be the best player in the world to count.

Where your server finishes decides the rewards for everyone

The game regularly sends out a message with the current server standings - you can see the total points of each community and how yours is doing, but you won't find the positions of individual players from other servers in it. More detailed overviews tend to appear on the game's official forums.

When the championship ends, every player on the three most successful servers gets an extra bonus reward, as long as they've also collected at least the minimum number of points. The higher the server finishes and the more points you personally collected, the better the reward:

The servers in first, second and third place also get an Architect event lasting three, two or one day for all of their players, and the rewards are credited within seven days of the event ending. The exact numbers of golden mystery boxes vary slightly from one championship to the next, but the principle stays the same.

Championship coins are spent at a special trader

On top of that, your performance in the championship keeps earning you championship coins - the game credits them every time it sends out a message about the standings so far. How many you get depends both on your personal point haul and on how the whole server is doing. You then spend the coins at a special trader.

It pays to collect points again in every week of the event, because the coins are handed out repeatedly throughout the championship, not just once at the end.

A global score event is played for an exclusive production building

At the start of a global score event you pick one of three buildings on offer and play for it. For a building to be unlocked for the competition, a certain minimum number of players has to take part - if not enough people choose it, the game automatically moves you into the competition for another valuable building. You get a pack of premium tulip seeds for registering. If you miss the registration phase, you can still join later, just without that starter bonus.

In the main phase you collect points simply by donating goods to your chosen building. The list of products you can donate differs from building to building and part of it is swapped out regularly during the event - it's worth checking, so you don't miss a handy product you happen to have spare.

The buildings are split into classes by quality - even the lowest class is stronger than most ordinary buildings, but the best pieces are reserved for the top class. Only the winner of the whole global competition across every server takes one of those home, and gets to pick it, while the other players who place in the event leaderboard are rewarded with at least one of the available buildings.

The best player in the world can also win a unique decoration

Besides the buildings and the server-wide rewards, there are also events played for a decoration for a single player - the one with the highest score across all servers combined. In Greta's masterpieces the winner picks from several unique decorations, which not only give a village happiness bonus but also improve the rewards in the upcoming Worldwide Championship, and each of them can only be won once. Frida's commissions get even more personal - the winner pitches their own decoration idea to the design team, helps bring it to life, sees their name on it and then receives it as a reward together with their cooperative. Since it's scored across the entire Big Farm world, nobody outside the absolute elite of players has a realistic shot at winning here.

Buildings and products mentioned in the text

Tip from a veteran player Keep an eye on the current list of products you can donate in a global score event - it changes regularly, and if you pick a building based on what you already produce in surplus, you'll rack up points without producing anything just for the sake of the event.
Most common mistake The most common mistake is missing the registration phase of a global score event. If not enough players pick the building you chose, the game moves you to a different one, and joining late also costs you the starter pack of premium tulip seeds.

FAQ

How do I get championship coins
Championship coins are credited automatically after every announcement of the interim results of the Worldwide Championship, and how many you get depends on your personal point haul as well as on where your server stands. You trade them in for rewards at a special trader.
Can I see the positions of individual players from other servers in the championship
No, the game only sends messages with the total points of each server and information on how your community is doing. More detailed leaderboards and rules are usually published on the game's official forums.
What happens if I pick a building in a global score event that not enough players want
If the building doesn't get enough votes to be unlocked for the competition, the game automatically moves you into the competition for another valuable building, so you won't miss out on taking part.
Do I have to register for a global score event right at the start
No, you can join after the registration phase ends as well, but you'll lose the starter pack of premium tulip seeds and possibly the pick of the original selection of buildings.
