Achievements in Goodgame Big Farm

Achievements in Big Farm are a separate system of long-term goals that tick along next to normal play - all I have to do is harvest, produce, fish or climb through the levels, and the game keeps count of how close I am to finishing them. According to the current game data (version 8052) there are dozens of achievements split up by the type of activity, from harvesting a specific crop through starting production to dollars spent or earned. Most of them need no special strategy at all, because they count the actions I take on the farm anyway.

I treat achievements as a by-product of normal play rather than a goal in their own right, because the vast majority complete themselves simply from the way I develop, harvest and produce on the farm. At most it pays to glance at the list now and then and shift my attention to whichever crop or activity I am still short on.

Achievements track themselves from whatever I do on the farm

Every achievement condition has its own type and target value in the game, so it is really just a counter that fills up from one specific activity and nothing else moves it. In practice I recognise a few basic types of condition.

  • Harvest - the total amount of a resource harvested counts, for example the achievement Harvesting machine asks me to harvest 150 corn.
  • Production - what counts is how many times I started production, not how much I made; for Smooth and sweet, for instance, I have to start honey production 25 times.
  • Reaching a level - the achievement No more newbie! asks me to reach level 10.
  • Dollars spent or earned - Shopping spree wants 490,000 dollars spent, Money magnet wants 850,000 dollars earned.
  • Other small conditions - missions completed, feeding a pet, spinning the wheel of fortune, finishing a themed event or adding expansions to the main farm.

That variety means achievements are not only about harvesting as much as possible - they map out pretty much the whole of farm life.

Harvesting and breeding achievements cover almost every crop

The biggest group of achievements is tied to harvesting a specific crop or raising a specific animal on the main farm, and the target values differ quite a lot depending on how quickly that resource is usually harvested.

AchievementWhat I harvestTarget
Harvesting machinecorn150

Apple bobbingapples6,800
Dandy-liondandelions6,300
Yum, almonds!almonds14,000
Oink oinkpigs18,000

Besides the plants and animals on the main farm, this group also takes in the achievements for collecting feed - Cow feeder (cow feed, 280) and Quack quack (duck feed, 490) - and one slightly unexpected one, What's that smell, which asks me to collect 70 units of fertilizer.

Production in the bakery, the mine and at sea has its own achievements

Alongside harvesting, the game also tracks how many times I start a particular production run or recipe, which is typically quicker to finish, because it is the number of starts that counts and not the amount.

  • Leaf it to me - start humus production 14 times.
  • Roses are red... - plant roses 3 times.
  • Great job! - produce flower perfume 8 times.
  • Smooth and sweet - start honey production 25 times.
  • Miner - start production in the mine 4 times.
  • Busy traffic - send a ship out on an expedition 50 times.

The bakery is a category of its own, but there it is usually the amount that counts rather than the number of starts - Versatile baker asks me to move 98,000 products into the bakery, Apple party to make 12,000 apple turnovers and Fruity temptation 1,400 fruit tarts with whipped cream. The golden cut works the same way, with 100 fine fish fillets to produce.

Fishing has its own set of achievements based on the weight of the catch

Fishing has its own set of achievements and some of them do not go by the number of fish, but by the total weight caught of a given species.

AchievementFishTarget
Heavyweightperch900 kg
The saddest fish in the seabluefish800 kg
A fish for every daycatfish700 kg
Underwater piggies?scorpionfish400 kg
What a catch!yellowfin tuna100 fish
Crossed swordsswordfish100 fish

The difference between kilograms and individual fish is worth noticing, because with heavier fish such as perch or catfish it takes fewer of them to hit the target, while with tuna and swordfish it is purely the number of catches that counts, no matter the weight.

Some achievements fill up through normal play rather than a specific crop

The last group of achievements is not tied to any particular resource, but to everyday play as such.

  • No more newbie! - reach level 10.
  • Mission hunter - complete 100 missions.
  • Shopping spree - spend 490,000 dollars.
  • Money magnet - earn 850,000 dollars.
  • Happy and content - reach a happiness of at least 500 on the main farm.
  • Growth spurt - add 8 expansions to the main farm.
  • Full belly - feed the dog 10 times.
  • Round and round it goes... - spin the wheel of fortune once.
  • Time for adventure - finish one themed event on any difficulty.
  • Bubble hunter - collect items from workers 5 times in a row.

This group fills up fastest for me, because it covers things I do while playing normally anyway - spending and earning dollars, working through daily missions or expanding the farm.

Buildings and products mentioned in the text

Tip from a veteran player Before I go after a harvesting achievement with a high target, like Oink oink (18,000 pigs) or Yum, almonds! (14,000 almonds), I would rather check whether I already have that crop or animal running at scale - with numbers this high the achievement completes itself during normal farm operation, not through targeted farming.
Most common mistake The most common mistake with production achievements such as Smooth and sweet or Great job! is trying to speed things up by making as many units as possible at once - but what counts there is the number of production runs started, not the amount produced, so it works out better to start production more often in smaller batches than to wait for one big one.

FAQ

What the production type means for an achievement
With production achievements such as Smooth and sweet or Roses are red..., it is not the amount produced that counts but how many times I started that production or sowing - with honey it is enough to start production 25 times, no matter how much I end up collecting from a single batch.
Why some fishing achievements list a weight in kilograms
Some fishing achievements, for example Heavyweight or A fish for every day, add up the total weight of the fish caught of that species, while others, such as What a catch! or Crossed swords, simply count the number of fish regardless of weight.
How many dollars I need to spend and earn for Shopping spree and Money magnet
Shopping spree asks for 490,000 dollars spent and Money magnet for 850,000 dollars earned; both are counted continuously and add up across the whole game, not within a single session.
Do I have to do anything extra for achievements that I would not do otherwise
For most of them no, because they track the harvesting, production or missions I get through while developing the farm anyway - the only exceptions are achievements with very high targets for crops or animals I do not happen to be running at scale.
