The friendship tree brings rewards for inviting friends
The friendship tree is the place in the game where I invite farming friends and collect rewards together with them, both for their progress and for what we build together. I can invite them with a personal link, by email or through Facebook, and it also matters who exactly I invite. The first ten brand new players I bring in become my best friends, and thanks to them I collect friendship cents, bonus gold and unlock the friendship fruit.
It pays to get the friendship tree going right from the start, because the gold for assigning friends and for harvesting the friendship fruit is basically free. It only works to the full, though, with real new players around you - without them most of the rewards, above all the friendship cents and the bonus gold, stay out of reach.
An invite by link, email or Facebook brings new farmers to your tree
The friendship tree is where I introduce my farming friends to the world of Big Farm, and then we help each other to rewards. There are several ways to send an invitation.
- With my personal registration link, which I copy and send by email, in a chat or anywhere else - anyone who joins the game through it is automatically added to my friends list.
- By email straight from the invitation screen, where I fill in my friend's name and email address.
- Through a social network such as Facebook.
The most important thing is knowing who actually counts as a best friend (the game sometimes calls them big friends too). These are the first ten farming friends I invite - but only brand new Big Farm players can become best friends, not people who already have an account. Best friends are the source of most of the rewards from the friendship tree, so it pays to aim at people who have never tried Big Farm.
Best friends bring me friendship cents and bonus gold
As soon as one of my best friends makes progress in the game, friendship cents are credited to me - a currency I then spend in the reward shop on prizes and cosmetic skins. The cents come from specific in-game milestones my friend reaches, among them:
- feeding chickens or reaching a certain level,
- loading a ship,
- finishing a tournament challenge or reaching a certain level,
- harvesting almonds,
- baking an apple pie,
- unlocking the flower farm.
Besides friendship cents I also collect hard currency. If a best friend buys gold, I get bonus gold as well, up to 10,000 gold a day. It works the other way round too - my friends can earn up to 8 prizes based on how actively I play myself, so staying active pays off for them as well.
The friendship building goes up together and rewards fast donating
I assign friends from my list to one of the empty spots on the friendship tree. Just for assigning them I get gold immediately, and further rewards come as the friend moves up to a higher level.
On an occupied spot we then build a friendship building together - both of us donate resources to it and we get experience points for every batch. When I donate quickly one after another, a streak bonus kicks in; if I let the streak fizzle out, the game warns me that it is at risk. Once the building is finished, both players get gold and bonus friendship fruit.
Here I would point out one thing that is easy to miss - if I replace a friend on an occupied spot with someone else while the friendship building is still running, I lose all the progress made so far. And once a building with that friend has been finished, no further one can be built on his spot.
The friendship fruit gives free gold every 12 hours
Successfully inviting five friends unlocks the friendship fruit. I can harvest it every 12 hours and every harvest brings me free gold. On top of that, the number of harvesting opportunities grows with every friendship building completed with assigned friends - so finishing buildings pays off from this angle too, not just for the one-off reward for completing them.
A friend's progress on the tree runs through five named levels
As an invited friend gradually improves on the friendship tree, he moves through five levels - and with every further level my reward grows as well.
- Gold buddy - the reward is gold right when you assign him to the tree.
- Mastery buddy - his further progress earns me mastery coins.
- Gold mining buddy - the reward is a gold mining permit.
- Diamond seed buddy - this time my friend brings me diamond seeds.
- Diamond buddy - at the highest level I get diamonds directly.
With invited friends I sometimes stand on the other side of the relationship as well - if a farming mentor invited me to the game, my own progress strengthens his friendship tree in turn. So the relationship works both ways, it is not a one-way gift for whoever invites more people.
