Football Fever
Football Fever is a seasonal event tied to a real football tournament, in which national teams play actual matches and the farmer backs them on their way to the title by coaching. During the event I collect three items from normal production, improve the turf at my own football stadium and decide which teams to hand whistles to, so that their goals bring me as many trophies and balls as possible.
Football Fever is an event worth playing to the full, mainly thanks to the stadium turf and a smart split of whistles across several teams - anyone who only collects sets and never donates the whistles is giving away a big chunk of the rewards.
The event follows a real football tournament
Football Fever is not a purely made-up event - the teams in it play real championship matches and the game turns their results into rewards for farmers. Among the participating nations, the in-game help listed for example the Czech Republic, the People's Republic of China, South Africa, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Ivory Coast and Saudi Arabia, so it is worth thinking your pick of a favorite through in advance.
One version of the event was tied directly to the 2019 Women's World Cup, which confirms that the game regularly adapts the event to whatever real tournament is running - the content and the timing therefore differ from one edition to the next.
Coaching equipment sets are the basic resource of the whole event
Every coaching equipment set contains one football, one trophy and one whistle. Sets drop from all production on the main farm and, as the help on jokers explains, from production on the gourmet farm and the flower farm too - so during the event it pays to keep all three farms running at once, not just the main one.
The three resources each have a different job
- Footballs unlock hard work rewards - the event has 200 of them in total, and besides coming from sets, balls also drop as a reward after individual championship matches.
- Trophies improve your position in the event leaderboard and, just like the balls, they come both from sets and as a reward after matches.
- Whistles are what you coach with - I donate them to the teams I like and for every goal that team scores in the tournament it brings me more trophies and balls.
Coaching pays off most with the teams nobody expects
A donated whistle stays with that team until the very end of the event, so the further the team gets in the tournament, the more points its goals bring me. You cannot donate to a team that has been knocked out of the tournament or has no match scheduled at the moment - and you cannot donate anything on match day or right afterwards either, as the notification about the reward only arrives about an hour after the official end of the match.
The help openly advises you to watch how all the teams are doing, because weaker teams generate more rewards than the strong ones. That is why spreading the whistles across several teams, underdogs included, has worked better for me than putting everything on one favorite.
The football stadium raises the yield of coaching equipment sets
The quality of the pitch at your own football stadium directly affects how many coaching equipment sets I get from production. Turf is grown on the fields, meadows and gardens of the main farm, the gourmet farm and the flower farm - ordinary seeds only keep the pitch in decent shape, while premium turf seeds push the yield even higher and unlock further hard work rewards.
Every joker earned by upgrading the stadium stays active for the whole run of the event, so investing in the turf pays off from the very first day.
