Premium feed and super feed kick-start production in your animal buildings
I don't use premium feed and super feed as an ordinary ingredient in a recipe, but as a quick shortcut to start production straight in the chicken coop, pigsty or cowshed. The same principle works for premium fertilizer and super fertilizer in an orchard. Instead of putting ordinary feed together from several goods, you just pick the item on the building itself and production starts on its own.
I treat them as a backup item for moments when I have no ordinary feed ready, not as something to burn through on every production run – they pay off mainly when I need to get an animal building running right away, without waiting for the classic recipe.
Premium feed and super feed go straight onto the animal building

Each of the three basic animal buildings has its own pair of goods – a premium variant and a super version. For the chicken coop it's Premium chicken feed and Super chicken feed, for the pigsty Premium pig feed and Super pig feed, and for the cowshed Premium cow feed and Super cow feed.
The in-game description of each one says the same thing – the item can be used on the matching building to start production. In practice that means the feed doesn't go into storage for later processing; you click the animal building, pick this item and the production cycle starts right away.
- Chicken coop – Premium chicken feed / Super chicken feed
- Pigsty – Premium pig feed / Super pig feed
- Cowshed – Premium cow feed / Super cow feed
The orchard has a similar pair in the form of fertilizer

The same two-tier system applies outside the animal buildings as well. An orchard uses fertilizer instead of feed, and going by its description Premium fertilizer works exactly like feed does with animals – you use it on the orchard and that starts production. Alongside it there is Super fertilizer as the higher tier of the same item.
Thanks to that I remember one shared principle for the orchard, chicken coop, pigsty and cowshed alike – whenever one of these items lands in my inventory, I know it belongs directly on a specific building, not in any recipe.
The premium variant and the super version work the same way in game
The descriptions of the premium and the super version don't differ in their wording – both only claim that the item can be used on the given building to start production. From that I gather the difference between the two tiers lies more in rarity and in where you get hold of them than in a different way of using them, because they go onto an animal building in exactly the same way.
That's why I file both types of feed and fertilizer under one category – a quick substitute for regular feeding – and treat the super version merely as a slightly more valuable piece that I'd rather save for later.
