Efficient dye factory – Goodgame Big FarmEfficient dye factory – Level 1

Efficient dye factory

Production Gourmet farm

It's a solid addition alongside the basic Dye factory, because it handles more recipes and a bigger volume, but you pay Gold for it the whole way through the upgrades, not farm dollars. It's mainly worth it for players who take the Gourmet farm seriously and have the time and the ingredients for it.

What it's for

The efficient dye factory produces a variety of natural dyes and has a higher production output than the regular dye factory.

Produces

The Efficient dye factory sits on the Gourmet farm and can turn out six dye colors at once - red, blue, yellow, orange, purple and green - from the beetroot, red cabbage and onions you grow on the farm. It's the upgraded version of the regular Dye factory with higher output, so it suits players who already have their Gourmet farm up and running and need dye in the kind of volume that feeds further processing. Its 7x6 footprint takes up more room than the standard version, but it handles a lot more. You buy it straight from the shop, but you pay in Gold, so it's more of an investment for players willing to put premium currency into their farm.

When to build it

It unlocks in the shop at player level 19, but since even the first level costs 3000 Gold and wants 4 workers right away, there's no point building it until you have your Gourmet farm at least reasonably set up with ingredients and housing. One is enough - six recipes at once cover your dye needs from a single building, and a second one is only worth thinking about once the first regularly sits idle for want of beetroot, cabbage or onions.

Is it worth upgrading

The table runs all the way to level 8, but for the recipes I know, neither the batch size nor the production time changes between the first and the last level - both give you 5 units of red dye in 15 minutes, for instance. Upgrading mainly raises the number of workers you can assign to the building, from 4 at the first level up to 52 at the eighth, and the higher levels only unlock at high player levels - the eighth and final one waits until level 142. The price climbs steeply, from 3000 to 140000 Gold, so maxing it out only pays off if you're genuinely hitting the worker cap.

Tip from a veteran player Before you buy the factory, count up your red cabbage - both the blue and the purple dye recipe eat 20 of it and run for 45 minutes, so that one ingredient tends to be the biggest bottleneck in the whole operation.
Most common mistake Players see the high output and pour Gold into the higher levels without having enough free workers on the Gourmet farm - from the second level up it suddenly wants 10, 20 and even 26 people, so the upgraded building ends up understaffed.
