What it's for

A natural primary color dye that can be used in a variety of productions.

Red dye is a basic color that you get in the game by processing beetroot in the Dye factory or the Efficient dye factory. It is one of the Secondary materials on the Gourmet farm and serves as an intermediate product for further production, not as a finished product to sell. It is available from the start without having to meet any farm level. In the game you use it both in baking and in textile production.

How to get it

The recipe is the same on all eight levels of both types of factory, ten beetroot give you five dye in fifteen minutes. You cannot buy dye in the shop, so the only way is your own production, and because the ingredients and the time stay the same on every level of the building, the main saving is simply always having enough beetroot in stock. The Efficient dye factory works with the same recipe as the regular version, so the choice between them does not come down to yield.

What to do with it

You send red dye on to the Bakery for the Pink donut and to the Clothing factory or the Efficient clothing factory for the Red silk dress. So it is not a product for direct sale but an ingredient for two different branches of production.

Tip from a veteran player Keep an eye on your beetroot consumption, because you need the same ingredient for Labskaus, Orange dye and Purple dye too, so it can easily run short.

Most common mistake A common mistake is producing dye for stock regardless of what you actually need in the Bakery or the Clothing factory right now, because that needlessly ties up beetroot in your storage.
