Airport, harbor and shipping your products

The airport and the harbor are the two buildings where the time-limited event farms, their own currencies and the regular shipments of goods out into the world all come together. From the airport I catch a plane to the island, Viking or candy farm and exchange my dollars for that event's currency right there. Down in the harbor I regularly load the ship with products for rewards, and the cruise ship event lets me build a harbor statue. Here is how all three mechanics work and what to watch out for.

The airport and the harbor don't produce anything themselves, but without them I can't even reach the event farms and I miss out on the bonuses for loading the ship - they are worth checking regularly rather than once in a while.

The airport opens the way to time-limited farms

The airport takes me to farms the game only opens for a limited time - the island (tropical) farm, the Viking farm on the winter island or the candy farm. I just catch the next plane at the airport and I'm there. The same route also lets me drop in on another player's island or Viking farm.

The Viking farm can only be reached from the airport and only for 30 days before the event closes - if I still want to visit or pick up the last bits of equipment, I have to make it within that window.

At the airport dollars are exchanged for the event farm's currency

Before I fly off to an event farm, I exchange ordinary dollars at the airport for the currency that only counts over there. Which currency it is depends on which farm is currently open.

There is usually a quest tied to the first exchange too, which I complete by exchanging a certain amount of dollars. The exchange only works one way though - island, snow and candy dollars can't be turned back into normal dollars, so I exchange them gradually, based on how much I really spend during the event, rather than all at once.

Upgrading the airport improves the exchange rate

The airport can be upgraded just like any other building. According to the in-game info the basic airport is being rebuilt at the moment and commercial flights earn nothing there - the owner is still looking for a new business model. As soon as I upgrade it to the Friendship airport, I immediately get a better exchange rate from dollars to event dollars, 10% better to be exact.

That upgrade paid off for me the moment I knew I'd be exchanging bigger amounts of dollars on an event farm - 10% adds up over repeated exchanges across the whole event.

The harbor is where the ship gets loaded with products regularly

A ship is moored in the harbor, and together with the crew (the captain and Miss Tentacle) I load it with products before it heads out to sea again. The ship has crates with a specific product request and a reward for filling them. Some crates also stay locked until I have played on one of the event farms.

  • If I fill every single crate before the ship leaves, I get an extra loading bonus.
  • If I don't manage it, the ship sails off unloaded anyway and only comes back after another waiting time.
  • The wait for the ship's return can be skipped with gold or by watching an ad, or the ship can be called back to the harbor early.

Before I start loading, I check how much of each product the crates are asking for and time my production so everything is ready before departure - otherwise the bonus for a complete load slips away over a few missing items.

The cruise terminal brings a harbor statue for golden compass roses

On top of the regular loading, the harbor has its own cruise terminal, big enough even for Captain James's impressive cruise ship. During the cruise ship event I collect golden compass roses, and for those I build and then upgrade a harbor statue in the harbor.

The upgraded statue can also be activated temporarily for a boost effect, so it pays to build and upgrade it step by step instead of leaving golden compass roses sitting unused until the event is over.

Tip from a veteran player Before I start exchanging dollars on an event farm in bulk, I work out first how much of that currency I actually need for the event - anything left over can't be converted back once the event ends.
Most common mistake The most common mistake is leaving the ship loading in the harbor until the last minute and then finding out the final crate won't be filled in time - the bonus for a complete load is lost over a couple of missing goods.

FAQ

How do I get to the island or Viking farm
I fly there by plane straight from the airport, where I also exchange dollars for that farm's currency. The Viking farm is on top of that only available for 30 days from the moment the event opens.
Can island or snow dollars be exchanged back into normal dollars
No, the exchange at the airport only works one way, so I only exchange as much as I will really spend during the event.
What does the Friendship airport upgrade do
It immediately improves the exchange rate from dollars to event dollars by 10 percent.
What happens if I don't finish loading the ship in the harbor
The ship sails off anyway, but I lose the bonus for a complete load. The ship's return can be sped up with gold or by watching an ad if needed.
