What it's for

Grows in the garden and can be used for its seeds or in linen production.

Flax is a basic farming resource that I grow on the Gourmet farm in the Garden, Fertile garden and Beach garden, as well as in the Glorious, Deluxe and Spectacular garden. It is one of the main raw materials and one of the first things I start producing right from level 0. It serves as an input for textile production and for baking, so I need it on the farm continuously and in large amounts. It can also be bought directly in the shop, which comes in handy when I am just a few pieces short.

How to get it

The fastest and cheapest way is to produce it directly in the garden. The recipe takes one hour and in the Garden, Fertile garden and Beach garden it yields 20 pieces at level 1, rising gradually to 37 or 41 pieces at the highest level, while in the Glorious, Deluxe and Spectacular garden the same one-hour recipe starts at 46 pieces and ends at 85 pieces. Because the one-hour recipe runs for the same time in every garden, it pays to grow flax in all of them at once. There is also a recipe using special flax seeds, which produces 300 to 590 pieces in the regular gardens and 690 to 1265 pieces in the higher ones over 5 hours, but the seeds themselves cost a lot of resources to make, so it only pays to turn surplus into flax this way. Buying in the shop only makes sense in an emergency, when I am a few pieces short of finishing another recipe.

What to do with it

I mostly send flax on for further processing. In the Nursery and the Farm laboratory I turn it into special flax seeds for mass flax production. In the Bakery I combine it with eggs to make flaxseed muffins, and in the spinning factory or efficient spinning factory I get fine linen and flax thread out of it. I also keep part of the output for selling, since it is a common market commodity.

Tip from a veteran player Grow flax in all your garden buildings at the same time. The one-hour recipe takes the same time everywhere, and the higher gardens give you even more pieces per batch.

Most common mistake The most common mistake is burning expensive special flax seeds on regular flax production, even though the cheap and fast money recipe right in the garden is enough.
