What it's for
The efficient spinning factory produces a variety of refined texiles and has a higher production output than the regular spinning factory.
Produces
The Efficient spinning factory is a processing building on the Gourmet farm that turns ordinary cotton, raw wool, silk, flax and angora wool into their fine versions - fine cotton, fine wool, fine silk, fine linen, linen thread and fine angora wool. You cannot get by without those materials in the Clothing factory, so the spinning factory sits right in the middle of the Gourmet farm's textile chain. Unlike the regular Spinning factory you build and upgrade this one purely with gold, not dollars, which makes it more of an investment for players who have gold to spare. It suits anyone who wants their own stock of fine textiles instead of relying on the slower dollar version.
When to build it
You can build the spinning factory from player level 19, but it only really makes sense once you have cotton, wool, silk, flax or angora wool production running - otherwise it will just stand there empty. At 7x6 tiles and 4 workers on level one the entry investment of 3,000 gold is manageable, but every further upgrade costs considerably more. One of them on the Gourmet farm is plenty, because the batches are small, around 5 units of material, and what you usually need is more input ingredients rather than more buildings.
Is it worth upgrading
According to the level table the amounts and production times of the fine materials stay the same at level one and at the top level, what really changes is the worker count, which jumps from 4 to 52, and the unlock requirement, which climbs to player level 142 at the highest level. So upgrading mainly makes sense so the building can handle more jobs and hand you more XP for the construction, not for faster or richer production as such. Since every upgrade is paid in gold and the amounts climb to 140,000 for the last level, it is worth spacing them out according to how much gold you manage to save up.
