What it's for
All fish are covered in small amounts of seaweed, and of course your customers don't really want to eat that. We'll have to clean them, but surely we'll find a way to use the seaweed for further productions, too.
Seaweed is a primary ingredient that, according to the in-game description, you find right on the fish you catch, so you don't get it from any separate recipe in a building. It's available on the Main farm, the Gourmet farm and the Flower farm from level 1 and has a low base price of just over 3 thousand dollars. In the farm economy it works mainly as an intermediate product for further processing, not as an item for direct sale.
How to get it
Seaweed has no production recipe of its own in any building and can't be bought in the shop, you get it as a by-product when cleaning the fish you catch. So there's no separate production to plan, just count on the fact that the more fish you process, the more seaweed flows in.
What to do with it
Seaweed is processed further in two places, the Shop turns it into Sailor's scent and The Mermaid Bay uses it for Temaki sushi. That's why it pays not to sell it right away if you plan to cook either of those two products.
