Joker tokens
I slot joker tokens into selected production buildings on the farm to push their yield up. Each token boosts the production of one specific product or ingredient, and the higher its level, the bigger the increase. I get most of them by completing dairy contracts at the market, where milk products are rewarded with tokens of various rarities.
I treat tokens as a long-term way to raise the farm's productivity rather than something you need to progress - but for the buildings and recipes I use most often it definitely pays to fill the slots, because you only have to assign a token once and a weaker one can be swapped for a better one at any time.
Every joker token raises the production of one specific product
I put a joker token into a particular production building on the farm and that lifts its yield. Each token is tied to one product or consumer good - it gets activated by placing it in a building that produces that product. The range of tokens is wide, from completely ordinary ones all the way to rare pieces.
How strong the boost is depends on the token's level - the higher the level, the bigger the increase in production yield. That's why it pays to save the rarer, higher-level tokens for the buildings or recipes I use most often.
Most tokens come from completing dairy contracts at the market
I collect joker tokens mainly through dairy contracts, which have their own section at the market. The condition is having at least one working dairy on the main farm - that's what produces the milk products I use to fill the contracts.
Every token has a rarity level, which decides how often it turns up as a reward, and rarer tokens are generally stronger than common ones. At the same time, each contract level has a fixed selection of tokens and a fixed chance of a rare one - the further up the contract levels I get, the better the tokens on offer, and some rare pieces simply can't be had anywhere but from higher contract levels. So it's worth completing contracts steadily and as much as possible to push their level up.
There are tokens for the main farm as well as the gourmet farm, flower farm and others
I can filter my token storage by which part of the farm the tokens are meant for, and that shows just how broad their use is. Besides tokens for the main farm there are also tokens for:
- the gourmet farm
- the flower farm
- the horse paddock
- the cooperative village
- fishing
- in-game events
On top of that there are special tokens in a category of their own. Before I assign a token, I always check which building or farm it's meant for, so it doesn't just sit unused in storage.
I assign a token in the token overview of the production building
I get to the assignment through the token overview window of the production building in question - I open it from the building's radial menu or from the upgrade dialog. Every recipe, seed, fertilizer and feed has up to 3 token slots, so they can be combined too.
The procedure is simple - I pick a token from storage and assign it to a slot. Until I confirm the assignment, I can take the token back out. Once I confirm, removing it outright is no longer possible, but I can replace an assigned token with another one at any time, even in the middle of a production run.
A token can break at harvest, but it can be repaired
Every recipe, seed, fertilizer and feed carries a different risk of the token breaking at harvest - the percentage is right there in the tooltip for that slot. A broken token isn't lost, though; once production finishes, one click repairs it.
I can also tell whether a building has a token fitted without opening the whole window - I just hover over the recipe icon in the radial menu and it shows me whether the token is active, how strong it is and what the risk of breaking is.
