Wax

Basic product Flower farm

A useful by-product of the honey harvest, but one that only really pays off once the Apiary is upgraded.

Quick overview

Farm	Flower farm
Base price	520 Dollars

Used in	Shop, Timber and textiles factory, Minerals and metals factory

What it's for

Wax is produced in the apiary. It can be made into other items in the shop.

Wax is a by-product of the Apiary, the Sweet apiary and the Maritime apiary on the Flower farm, produced by the same nectar processing as Honey. Its yield varies a lot with the building's level and the type of nectar you use. It gets processed further in the Shop and in the resource factories for building and textile materials. You can also buy it directly in the shop at a base price of 520 Dollars.

How to get it

The wax yield climbs steeply with the building level - at Apiary level one even Super nectar gives just 2 units, while at level four it's already 54 from the same input of ten nectar. Super nectar also gives a higher wax yield and an XP bonus, so for wax you're better off upgrading the Apiary than relying on a low level. Buying wax in the shop for 520 Dollars is worth it when your Apiary is at a low level and waiting for a few units from nectar would take disproportionately long.

What to do with it

You use Wax in the Shop for the Soap bundle, in the Wood and textile factory for Timber and Canvas, and in the Minerals and metals factory for the Skylight.

Tip from a veteran playerWax always comes out together with honey from the same nectar, so plan ahead how much wax and how much honey you actually need from a given batch.

Most common mistakeThe mistake is processing nectar at a low Apiary level, because the wax yield there is negligible compared with higher levels.
