It is one of the most productive processing buildings on the Flower farm if you have enough nectar coming in, so feel free to build it right after unlocking it at level 56. I would definitely not put off upgrading to higher levels, because of the many times higher wax yield.

This efficient apiary is used to produce honey and wax and has a higher production output than the regular apiary.

The Efficient apiary is an upgraded version of the classic Apiary on the Flower farm, where you make honey and wax from super nectar, premium nectar or ordinary nectar. According to the in-game description it gives a higher yield than the regular Apiary, so it pays off mainly for players who have enough nectar-producing orchards on the Flower farm and want to get more out of them. It stands on an 11x6 plot and can be bought directly in the Shop once you have the level for it. It is a typical processing building where you turn one input, nectar, into two outputs at once, honey and wax.

When to build it

It unlocks only at player level 56 and the first level costs you 500 Gold, so you cannot build it any earlier. Once you unlock it, it pays to build it straight away if you already have orchards on the Flower farm generating a nectar surplus, otherwise it would just take up space unused. One or two Efficient apiaries are enough for most farms, since the number of workers climbs from 13 to a maximum of 25.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading makes a huge amount of sense with this building, mainly because of the wax. With super nectar you see an increase from 2 units of wax at level one to 84 units at the top level for the same 2.5 hours and the same input, and there is a similarly dramatic jump with premium and ordinary nectar. Honey rises to roughly two and a half times with all three kinds of nectar. Given how much the wax yield in particular climbs, I would not hesitate to push this building to higher levels as soon as you have the Gold and the player level for it.

Tip from a veteran player Feed the apiary super nectar first whenever you have it available, because besides the higher honey and wax yield you also get a bonus of 500 XP per batch, which you do not get in the same amount from premium nectar (300 XP) or from ordinary nectar.

Most common mistake The most common mistake is to keep feeding the apiary nothing but ordinary nectar, because players have the most of it piled up, and thereby miss out on the higher honey and wax yield that super nectar gives. Premium nectar only adds XP compared with ordinary nectar, and you get the same amount of honey and wax from it.
