Oysters are often considered a culinary delicacy, but did you know they feed by extracting algae and other food particles from the water surrounding them? Yummy!
Oysters are a basic sea product from the Fishing area which, according to the in-game description, grow from algae and tiny food particles in the water. They're caught with boats such as the motorboat, the motor barge, the Norfolk punt or the fishing houseboat, and a base price of 15 thousand dollars makes them the priciest of the three crustaceans and shellfish from this area. From the start they serve mainly as an ingredient for further processing in The Mermaid Bay and as goods for the Dockyard.
How to get it
Each of these boats needs just a single corn for a batch, they only differ in yield and trip length. At the highest listed level the motorboat gives 29 units in 7 h 36 m, the motor barge 75 units in just under 9 hours, the Norfolk punt up to 161 units in 15 h 24 m and the fishing houseboat 260 units, but only after nearly 30 hours, so per hour the punt comes out best. In the long run it pays to keep upgrading your boat, because a better boat gets you noticeably more oysters for that same single corn.
What to do with it
You process oysters in The Mermaid Bay into Seafood mix, and besides that the Dockyard accepts them too, where you deliver them as goods in their own right.
