Norfolk wherry – Goodgame Big FarmNorfolk wherry – Level 1

Norfolk wherry

Special buildings Fishing area

The way I see it, the Norfolk punt is a solid and cheap way into serious fishing that fits almost anywhere and is worth taking all the way to max over time. It's not the most powerful boat on offer, but for its price it gives the best performance ratio.

What it's for

Although one of the more traditional boats in the dockyard, the Norfolk wherry is nonetheless a very efficient fishing vessel.

Produces

The Norfolk punt is one of the three larger fishing boats you can build in the Fishing area alongside the smaller motorboat and motor barge. It works like a production building – it eats corn from your fields and turns it into a wide range of seafood, from oysters and mussels through herring and tuna to cod, salmon and swordfish. With a 3×9 footprint and a price of 1 500 000 dollars for the first level, it's one of the cheapest tickets into serious fishing. It's for anyone who already has the fishing area up and running and wants to pull materials out of it in larger amounts, whether for further processing or for selling.

When to build it

You can build the punt right from the start, because its first level has no player level requirement at all. It's worth building the moment you have a surplus of corn in your fields and want to turn it into more valuable fish products instead of selling it on the market. Thanks to its smaller 3×9 footprint it fits into the Fishing area more easily than the wider Trawler, so it's a good choice even when space on the farm is tight. How many boats you end up building side by side comes down purely to the free space you have in the area.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading is a clear win here, because the amount of material going in doesn't change with the level – it's still one corn – while the output grows from 54 units at level one up to 161 units at level six. The upgrade price does climb quite sharply, from 1 815 000 to a final 12 062 000 dollars, but the profit from a single production cycle more than triples along the way. The last levels are also tied to your player level, level six needs level 74, so you won't build them any sooner anyway.

Tip from a veteran player Before you set the punt to the recipe with cod, salmon and swordfish, it's better to work out whether the almost sixteen hour production time at level one won't take the boat out of service for too long – I prefer the shorter recipe with oysters, mussels and shrimp myself, because you can cycle it more often and it fits normal log-in habits better.
Most common mistake I've noticed that the most common mistake is leaving the boat standing empty because the player forgets to top up the corn from the fields – without materials the punt makes nothing, even though it needs no workers or extra upkeep of its own.
