Barley is a garden crop that you turn into Donkey feed and Quick rabbit feed in the Water mill. So it's the shared base for two different kinds of livestock on the Gourmet farm. You can also buy it straight from the shop for 100 Dollars apiece.

How to get it

In the garden you have two recipes - the seed one for 1 Special barley seed, which gives 100 to 540 pieces (depending on the garden level) in 8 hours, or the money one without seeds, which gives 37 to 110 pieces in 3 hours. The seed recipe has the best ratio of yield to ingredients, so it's worth running during long breaks or overnight, while the money recipe is the quicker choice during the day when you need Barley sooner.

What to do with it

I send it to the Water mill (including the Efficient one) for Donkey feed or for Quick rabbit feed, depending on which livestock needs topping up at the moment.

Tip from a veteran player Before you plant the garden with the 8-hour seed recipe, decide in advance whether you need donkey feed or rabbit feed more - the harvested Barley can go either way, but you have to direct it manually in the mill.

Most common mistake A common mistake is to keep running only the three-hour money recipe during the day and not use the eight-hour seed recipe overnight, which at a higher garden level gives more than four times as many pieces.
