Efficient water mill – Goodgame Big FarmEfficient water mill – Level 1

Efficient water mill

Production Gourmet farm

The Efficient water mill is the backbone production building of the Gourmet farm and it's worth building as soon as you open the farm. Upgrading it makes sense step by step as your animal pens grow, but levels eight and nine belong to players in the late game.

What it's for

This efficient water mill is used to make feed for your gourmet farm stables and has a higher production output than the regular water mill.

Produces

The Efficient water mill is the improved version of the Water mill on the Gourmet farm - it turns lamb's lettuce, barley, dandelion, parsnip, almonds and milk into feed for the farm's ducks, donkeys, goats and rabbits. It sits at the heart of the Gourmet farm's production chain, because without its feed your animal pens grind to a halt. Compared with the ordinary Water mill it gives a higher yield from the same raw material, so it's most appreciated by players who keep several kinds of animals on the Gourmet farm at once and need feed in volume.

When to build it

It's available in the shop from player level 19, which is around the time you've unlocked the Gourmet farm and are getting your animal pens going. Before you build it, check you have enough workers - even at level one it needs 4 and that grows fast. One is usually enough on the Gourmet farm, since you use it to make feed for several kinds of animals at the same time.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading mainly shortens production times and cuts the input per batch - duck feed needs 124 lamb's lettuce and 2 hours 40 minutes at level one, while at the top level 93 lamb's lettuce is enough and it's done in 27 minutes. Worker requirements climb steeply though, jumping from 10 to 20 between levels two and three, and at the maximum it needs 58. Up to level seven the player level needed to unlock rises smoothly from 19 to 77 and the price in gold from 3000 to 90000, but levels eight and nine both wait for player level 142 - level eight still costs 140000 gold, but level nine costs 70000 diamonds. I'd go up to level seven without hesitation; leave eight and nine until your farm is in the late game and you have diamonds to spare.

Tip from a veteran player Count your workers ahead of time before building and before every upgrade - between levels two and three the requirement jumps from 10 to 20 and at the maximum the mill needs 58 people, so without enough houses and happiness you won't even get it running.
Most common mistake An early mistake is upgrading the mill beyond the amount of feed your pens actually consume - that just freezes an 8x6 footprint and workers you'd use elsewhere.
