What it's for

The water mill is used to make feed for all the animals on the gourmet farm.

Produces

The water mill is a production building on the Gourmet farm that grinds field crops into animal feed - for ducks, donkeys, goats and rabbits - and on top of that it can make pellet feed from dandelions, almonds and milk. It is the central building for feeding the livestock on this farm, so once you start keeping animals on the gourmet farm you basically cannot do without it. It takes up 8x6 and you buy it straight from the shop.

When to build it

It unlocks as early as level 19 and the first level costs just 10 000 dollars and takes half an hour to build, so it is worth putting up the moment you reach the gourmet farm. It is one of those cheap buildings you have no reason to hesitate over.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading pays off as you go, because higher levels mainly raise the number of workers (from 4 at level 1 up to 58 at level 9) and above all cut the production times - duck feed, for example, takes a full 2h 40m at level 1 but only 27 minutes at max. The last, ninth level is not paid for in dollars though, but with 50 000 diamonds, so there is no need to rush it and you can happily sit on level eight, which you pay for in the regular currency.

Tip from a veteran player Keep an eye on how many workers the mill eats at higher levels (58 at max) - before you upgrade, make sure you have enough free workers, otherwise the upgrade will just block your building site for nothing.

Most common mistake An early mistake is leaving the mill at a low level long after the farm needs more feed - production queues then slow your animal breeding down, even though the upgrade is not expensive.
