What it's for

Use winter fertilizer to grow grass in your sheep pasture and collect plant debris as a by-product. Winter fertilizer is made with dung from animals.

Produces

The sheep pasture is one of the Northern lights farm's orchards, where winter fertilizer feeds the grass that gives you sheep wool and plant remains alongside it. You'll find the same pasture on the Viking farm and the Festive farm as well, though on the Festive farm it drops dyed wool instead. It demands more fertilizer, 40 per batch, and has a longer base production time than the tree grove or the berry orchard, so it's more of a building for a developed farm. You'll use the wool wherever production on the Northern lights farm calls for it.

When to build it

Build the sheep pasture once your silo can deliver a decent volume of winter fertilizer, because at level 1 it burns 40 per four-hour batch, noticeably more than the tree grove or the berry orchard. The build itself takes 4 hours 30 minutes at level 1, so treat it as a longer-term investment rather than a building to get things rolling quickly. Given how much fertilizer each batch swallows, one pasture is usually enough until you have the silo upgraded to a high level.

Is it worth upgrading

At max level the same 40 fertilizer gives you 1200 sheep wool and 240 plant remains instead of the 600 and 120 you get at level 1, with the production time staying at 4 hours. The upgrade price climbs from 100,000 all the way to 8,000,000 Snow dollars and the workers from 8 to 17, making it the priciest of the orchards here, so it only makes sense to upgrade once you have a steady fertilizer surplus.

Tip from a veteran player Before you start upgrading the sheep pasture, check that your silo can keep up with 40-piece batches of winter fertilizer, otherwise a higher level just raises the worker requirement without actually speeding up your wool production.
Most common mistake A common mistake is building the sheep pasture too early, when the farm doesn't yet have enough manure or silo capacity to sustain its heavy fertilizer consumption.
