What it's for

The berry orchard is another orchard on the Viking farm, where winter fertilizer grows bushes full of berries, and alongside them you also harvest plant remains for compost. It works just like the other orchards on this farm, it needs fertilizer made from animal dung in the silo. It's for players who need berries for processing in other buildings or for filling orders and want their own source right on the farm. Like the other orchards it takes up an 8x8 area.

When to build it

Build it once you have winter fertilizer production up and running and you start needing berries regularly, not just the odd time. One is usually enough for normal use, a second comes in handy if you process berries further in bigger quantities. The level one build takes over two hours, so longer than the tree grove, which means you should plan for it a little later in your farm's development.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading always makes sense, because production from one batch of fertilizer doubles - from 20 fertilizer you get 300 berries and 60 plant remains at level one, and 600 berries and 120 plant remains at level four from the same batch, with the production time staying at the same two hours. Higher levels double the orchard's yield without raising the fertilizer cost per batch.

Tip from a veteran player Event seaweed fertilizer gives 30% more berries than ordinary winter fertilizer and it's ready straight away, so save it for the moments when you need berries fast and can't wait two hours for a regular batch.

Most common mistake Players often plant the berry orchard right next to the tree grove without thinking it through, even when they don't need berries for processing at the time - the orchard then just burns fertilizer that would be more useful elsewhere.
