Sheep pasture

Orchards Viking farm

The most demanding of the three orchards on the Viking farm, but for anyone who needs wool the upgrades clearly pay off thanks to the doubled production.

What it's for

Use winter fertilizer to grow grass in your sheep pasture and collect plant debris as a by-product. Winter fertilizer is made with dung from animals.

Produces

The sheep pasture is an orchard on the Viking farm where winter fertilizer grows grass for the sheep, and from it you harvest sheep wool along with plant remains for compost. It, too, belongs to the buildings at the end of the farm's production cycle and needs fertilizer made from animal dung in the silo. It suits players who need wool for processing or for filling orders on the Viking farm. It takes up the same 8x8 area as the other orchards, but building and upgrading it takes a good deal longer.

When to build it

It's worth building once wool is part of your production chain and you use it regularly, otherwise it just ties up fertilizer capacity that could go to the grove or the berry orchard. The level one build takes four and a half hours and the top level almost twelve, so developing the pasture is the most time-consuming of all three orchards on this farm. One is usually enough, a second only makes sense when demand for wool is higher.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading pays off just like with the other orchards, production from one batch of fertilizer doubles - from 40 fertilizer you get 600 wool and 120 plant remains at level one, and 1200 wool and 240 plant remains at level four from the same batch, with the production time staying at four hours. Given how long the higher levels take to build, it's worth upgrading step by step whenever you have Snow dollars to spare, which is what every level is paid in, and not leaving the pasture at a low level for long.

Tip from a veteran player Because the pasture takes the longest of all three orchards to build and upgrade, always start it when you know you won't be back at the farm for a while, overnight for instance.
Most common mistake An early mistake is building the sheep pasture right at the start together with the other orchards even though you don't need it yet - the long build then blocks the farm's only construction slot for nothing.
