I see the clothing factory as a solid, dollar-based foundation for textile production on the gourmet farm, but with unlocks stretching all the way to level 142 it needs years of playing rather than a few weeks.

The clothing factory processes the fine raw materials from the spinning factory - fine cotton, fine silk, fine wool and fine linen - together with dyes into finished clothes like blue jeans, a red silk dress, a yellow wool scarf or a winter jacket. It sits at the very end of the gourmet farm's textile chain, so without a working spinning factory and dye production it has nothing to process. You build and upgrade it with dollars, which is what sets it apart from the gold-based efficient version of the same building. It suits players who want to get textile production going without spending gold.

When to build it

Building it makes sense from player level 19, once you have at least one fine raw material and the matching dye sorted out - any earlier and it would just stand there unused. On a 7x6 footprint and with 4 workers at the start, the entry price is cheap at 10,000 dollars, so there is no reason to put it off once your textile production is running. One is enough until you start making clothes on a large scale.

Is it worth upgrading

According to the table, the recipes for the individual pieces of clothing need the same amounts and the same time at the first level as at the highest one; what mainly grows is the number of workers, from 4 to 52, and the player level needed to unlock, which at the last, eighth level jumps all the way to 142. I would treat upgrading as a long-term process that runs alongside your own level, not as something worth pushing forward at any cost.
