What it's for

A fine thread that can be produced in the spinning factory.

Fine silk is made much like fine wool, except that the input material here is plain silk. The spinning factory processes it on the Gourmet farm, and in the farm economy it serves purely as an input for tailoring, selling it makes no sense. The base value is 1000 dollars per unit, but in practice I use it straight away in the clothing factory. Buying it in the shop is not possible.

How to get it

The recipe is simple, 15 units of silk turn into 5 units of fine silk in 22 minutes in the spinning factory or the efficient spinning factory, and it is the same on all eight levels of the building. Thanks to the shorter production time compared with wool or linen, fine silk is handy to slot in between shorter production cycles when I do not want to tie up the spinning factory for hours. Because the recipe does not change with building level, there is no point upgrading the spinning factory for it any sooner than I would need to anyway.

What to do with it

I process fine silk in the clothing factory or the efficient clothing factory to make the red silk dress and the purple summer skirt. Outside of that production it has no use.

Tip from a veteran player Because the production time is only 22 minutes, queue up fine silk whenever you have a short gap in the spinning factory between longer jobs.

Most common mistake It is easy to end up producing more raw silk than the amount of fine silk you actually need for the job in progress at the clothing factory, and the rest then sits uselessly in storage.
