The wintry field is a cultivated plot on the Festive farm where you grow red flax and raise herring and sardines, the basic materials you then process mainly in the Festive workshop. Unlike the other buildings in this group you can buy it straight from the shop, so getting it is entirely your call. It's the entry-level supply building of the whole Festive farm, because without red flax the workshop simply grinds to a halt. It suits anyone getting the Festive farm off the ground who needs a steady flow of basic materials.

When to build it

Build it the moment you unlock the Festive farm, the first level costs you 20000 snow dollars and goes up in under an hour, and without red flax your Festive workshop won't get going. The game lists no required player level for it, so the only hurdle is having enough snow dollars for the first level.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading is a clear win, because at the top level the same batch gives you exactly double the yield, herring goes from 450 to 900, sardines from 300 to 600 and red flax from 90 to 180, all in the same production time as on the lower levels. So it's a straight increase in output with no trade-off in time.

Tip from a veteran player Use special red flax seed or special roe, which you occasionally pick up from events, right away, because at the top level a single one of those gives you up to 4320 red flax in one go, which you couldn't match with normal dollar production even after several rounds.

Most common mistake Over time players stop keeping an eye on the wintry field and let it sit idle because they're focused on the workshop or the animals, when this is exactly where the material the whole festive production chain rests on comes from.
