What it's for

Grows in winter fields and can be made into holiday items in the festive workshop.

Red flax is the main product of the Festive farm, grown on the winter field from level 30. In the festive workshop it is turned into the typical Christmas items. The base value per piece is 50 Snow dollars. It is the key resource that practically the whole production of the festive workshop rests on.

How to get it

On the winter field you can choose between two approaches. The quick option costs 135 Snow dollars and in 15 minutes gives 90 to 180 pieces depending on the field level. The bulk option uses up 1 special red flax seed and in 8 hours produces 2160 to 4320 pieces depending on the field level. For regular restocking for the workshop, the long run using the special seed works out better for me, because you get many times more flax from a single input, while the quick option for Snow dollars only makes sense when you need flax right now and do not want to wait 8 hours.

What to do with it

Red flax goes straight into the festive workshop, where you use it to make the Santa hat, Christmas wreath, reindeer figurine and Christmas tree. It has no use other than as an input resource for these four items.

Tip from a veteran player Before I plant the winter field, I work out how much flax I need for the items in progress in the workshop, so the long 8 hour run does not go unused and I do not have to start the short run for Snow dollars over and over.

Most common mistake The most common mistake is planting only the short 15 minute runs for Snow dollars because they finish quickly, without the player working out that the long run on the special seed gives far more flax per hour for the same investment.
