Seal pond – Goodgame Big FarmSeal pond – Level 1

Seal pond

Animal buildings Northern lights farm Festive farm

The seal pond is slower and pricier than the penguin pond, but it makes up for that with far higher manure output, so it's worth building as your second animal on the Northern lights farm.

What it's for

Seals are bred in the seal pond. They need seal feed, which is made using herrings in the stone mill.

Produces

The seal pond is the bigger sibling of the penguin pond - instead of penguin feed it eats seal feed made in the stone mill and turns it into seals and plenty of manure. It takes up 9x8 tiles, more than twice the footprint of the penguin pond, and one production batch takes 8 hours. That makes it a building for long cycles running overnight rather than for frequent quick harvests. It's worth it for players who want a stock of manure and seals without having to come back to the building every hour.

When to build it

Just like with the penguin pond, it only makes sense to build the seal pond once the stone mill is running and making seal feed. Because of the higher price of the first level (60,000) and the bigger footprint, I'd build it after the penguin pond, once the farm's economy is further along and you can spare the seven workers it needs right from the start. One pond per farm easily covers your need for seals and manure.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading doubles the output again while keeping the eight-hour cycle - from 900 seals and 2,400 manure at level 1 you get up to 1,800 seals and 4,800 manure in the same time at maximum. The prices climb steeply though, level 3 costs 700,000 and level 4 already 3,500,000 and demands 28 workers, so I'd upgrade gradually and not rush it right after building.

Tip from a veteran player Time the eight-hour cycle so it finishes overnight or while you're away from the game anyway - that way you get the most out of the pond without losing hours when it could have been running but nobody started it.
Most common mistake A common mistake is starting the seals in the morning before a short play session and then only coming back to the pond hours later during active play - the eight hours of production then run on into a time when you could already have the next batch going.
