The feed preparation plant produces special feed for ostriches, lizards and orcas on the Obsidian farm - the exotic animals you can barely feed any other way. It processes ingredients such as rye, plums, saffron, dragon fruit, king salmon and sage, and each pair yields 10 units of feed per hour. It is fairly demanding on farmhands, needing 22 at level one and 32 at the top level. It only makes sense if you really do keep these exotic animals and need a steady source of feed for them.

When to build it

Build it only once you have ostriches, lizards or orcas up and running on the Obsidian farm - without them the building just eats up space and farmhands. Level one unlocks at player level 114, but the next tiers wait for levels 124, 144, 174, 194 and the sixth all the way at 214, so your own level will be holding you back for a good long while.

Is it worth upgrading

The recipes for all three feed types stay the same from the first level to the top - still 10 units per hour from the same amount of ingredients. So upgrading mainly raises the number of farmhands you need, from 22 to 32, the price from 8000 to 1800000 obsidian dollars, and with every tier the required player level too, up to 214 for the sixth. It is worth going for once you have enough spare farmhands and want the higher XP, because the production itself gets neither faster nor bigger.

Tip from a veteran player Before you upgrade the feed preparation plant, count whether you have enough spare farmhands for the higher level - 32 people on a single building is a lot and it costs you happiness across the whole farm.

Most common mistake Most often players run short of ingredients like saffron or king salmon for regular restocking, so the building spends more time idle than producing.
