The Efficient duck coop is a Gourmet farm animal building that turns duck feed into eggs, with manure for your silo as a by-product. You mix its feed from lamb's lettuce in the Water mill. Like the other efficient animal buildings, you build and upgrade it with gold rather than dollars, and it unlocks at player level 26. It suits players who need a steady supply of eggs on the Gourmet farm for further processing and have gold they want to invest outside the dollar economy.

When to build it

Build it as soon as your Gourmet farm allows it and you have a free 8x6 plot - the entry price of 280 gold and 5 farmhands is manageable early on. Feel free to put it up right after it unlocks and let it run at lower levels until you have saved enough gold for upgrades.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading pays off mainly because of the eggs - 10 units of feed give you 300 eggs in 8 hours at level one, while the highest regular level gives 670 eggs in the same time, more than double. Manure grows more slowly, from 109 to 173, so roughly sixty percent more. The oddity here is that level nine takes 10 days to build and level ten a full 12 days and 12 hours, so the last two upgrades are a genuinely long-term project you want to plan for well in advance.

Tip from a veteran player Before you start planning the ninth and tenth level, work out whether waiting more than ten days for the build is worth it - it is often better to have other, faster buildings under construction and come back to the coop later.

Most common mistake An early mistake is pushing the duck coop to high levels at the same pace as your other animal buildings - with ten-day and longer builds at the upper tiers, it needlessly ties up the single construction slot you have on the farm for a very long time.
