The Spring pigsty is a pig building on the Main farm that you can't get in the shop these days, it's a seasonal building you either picked up earlier or don't have at all. It works like a regular Pigsty, turning pig feed into pigs with manure for the silo as a by-product, and it also has the rare truffle on its production list. It takes up a fairly big 7x6 plot and needs plenty of workers at higher levels, 16 of them at level ten. It's a building for players who already have a running farm with enough houses and want to squeeze more pigs out of the Main farm without building another Pigsty.

When to build it

Since this is a building you can't put up again once you tear it down, there's not much to weigh up, if you have it available, build it right away as soon as the game lets you from player level 2. The price of 18000 Gold for the first level isn't nothing, but given that you can't buy it again anyway, it's worth having it standing sooner rather than later. It's one specific extra building alongside your regular Pigsty, not a type you'd build several of.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading is worth it, because the yield almost doubles between the first and the last level - with the pig feed recipe the same 10 units of feed give you 195 pigs at level one and 352 pigs at level ten, plus more manure for the silo. The price climbs from 18000 up to 75000 Gold, and from level nine on you'll need player level 95, so you'll be saving the last two upgrades for later. Until then feel free to upgrade as you go, whenever your player level allows, because every level noticeably lifts production.

Tip from a veteran player Recipes with obsidian feed give far more experience per batch, easily 3000 to 5000 XP extra depending on the variant, so when you're mainly after XP and not pigs to sell, reach for those instead of ordinary pig feed.

Most common mistake The most common mistake is demolishing this building to free up space on the farm - since it can't be rebuilt, you lose it for good, so rearrange things around it rather than reaching for the demolition hammer.
