What it's for

A rare recipe catalyst used for special recipes in the farm laboratory. Can be won as a reward.

The rare catalyst is one tier rarer than the common catalyst and, like it, belongs among the basic ingredients of the farm laboratory on the Main, Gourmet and Flower farms. It isn't bought in the shop, you get it either as a reward or by producing it from the valuable catalyst. It's the middle link in the catalyst chain and at the same time an ingredient needed for premium feeds for livestock.

How to get it

In the laboratory you produce it from 20 valuable catalysts into 18 rare catalysts in 5 minutes, the recipe is the same at all building levels. Without a reward from a quest or event, you can't get around producing the valuable catalyst one tier up.

What to do with it

You use the rare catalyst to produce the common catalyst and a whole range of premium feeds and fertilizers - premium feed for chickens, pigs, cows, goats, donkeys and ducks, premium feed for sheep, premium feed for rabbits, premium liquid fertilizer, premium fertilizer and premium nectar.

Tip from a veteran player Before you start on premium animal feeds, work out how many rare catalysts they'll burn through - besides feeds you also need them for the common catalyst for seeds.

Most common mistake It's easy to end up producing rare catalysts only for feed and then running short for the common catalyst for seeds, because both recipes draw from the same stock.
