What it's for

You can use special seeds in the greenhouse to breed exotic fruits, which you can then load onto Captain Barnacle's ship when he docks in the harbor and asks for them.

Premium pineapple seeds are among the pricier greenhouse seeds, they cost 6250 gold and unlock at level 30, while premium elderberry seeds, for instance, make you wait until level 35. I use them in the greenhouse on the main farm, the gourmet farm or the flower farm, where they grow into exotic Pineapples. Those then go towards filling Captain Barnacle's order in the harbor.

How to get it

I can't buy pineapple seeds in the shop and there's no recipe to produce them, so they only reach me by some route other than a regular purchase. Given the steep price of 6250 gold I definitely don't use them up without thinking, I plant them only once I know the pineapples are actually going somewhere.

What to do with it

The seeds turn the greenhouse into Pineapples, which then wait for Captain Barnacle's ship and his demand for pineapples in particular.

Tip from a veteran player With a resource this expensive I always check first that Barnacle really is asking for pineapples, and only then do I put the seeds in the greenhouse.

Most common mistake There's no point growing pineapples before Captain Barnacle's ship has even asked for them and then just letting them sit in storage.
