What it's for

You can use special seeds in the greenhouse to breed exotic fruits, which you can then load onto Captain Barnacle's ship when he docks in the harbor and asks for them.

Premium grapefruit seeds work just like the other greenhouse seeds, you buy them with gold rather than dollars and use them in the greenhouse on the main farm, the gourmet farm or the flower farm. They grow into Grapefruits, another exotic fruit outside the usual range of the plots. They unlock at level 30 and cost 2550 gold, roughly twice the price of the lime seeds. The grapefruits then head off to Captain Barnacle's ship.

How to get it

The seeds aren't sold in the shop and they have no production recipe, so the only way is to wait until they land in my inventory some other way. Since they cost more than the lime seeds, it doesn't pay to use them for anything other than a genuine grapefruit order from Captain Barnacle.

What to do with it

As with the other greenhouse seeds, there's only one way to use them, I grow Grapefruits and send them off to Captain Barnacle's ship as soon as he asks for them in the harbor.

Tip from a veteran player Before I use the seeds up, I'd rather wait until Barnacle specifically asks for grapefruits, because with a pricier resource it doesn't pay to burn it on stock with no order behind it.

Most common mistake A mistake is mixing grapefruit seeds up with lime seeds in the greenhouse queue and then finding out you've grown a different fruit than the one the ship actually wants.
