Grapefruit seeds are a cheap but slow basis for growing grapefruits and over time it pays to replace them with the more efficient seeds from the laboratory.

What it's for

You can use these seeds in the greenhouse to breed exotic fruits, which you can then load onto Captain Barnacle's ship when he docks in the harbor and asks for them.

Grapefruit seeds are the basic seeds for the Greenhouse, from which you get Grapefruits, an exotic fruit meant for Captain Barnacle's ship. In the game they are available from level 30 on the Main farm, Gourmet farm and Flower farm, with a base value of 110 Gold, double that of lime seeds. They are not bought in the shop and the game lists no production recipe for them, so they are an input material, not a product you make from something else.

How to get it

With grapefruit seeds you have neither a production recipe nor a shop purchase available, so their whole point is planting them in the greenhouse. The base value of 110 Gold is higher than that of lime seeds, which matches the fact that the resulting grapefruits also have a higher base price than the cheaper exotic fruit.

What to do with it

The only listed use is planting in the Greenhouse, where grapefruit seeds turn into Grapefruits.

Tip from a veteran player I use grapefruit seeds mainly to get production started or to quickly top up a small amount of grapefruits, the recipe with them is the fastest, even though it gives the fewest pieces per cycle.
Most common mistake The mistake is expecting a high yield from grapefruit seeds, the plain seeds give noticeably fewer grapefruits per hour in the greenhouse than special or premium seeds.
