What it's for

You can use these seeds in the greenhouse to breed sweet fruits, which you can load onto Captain Barnacle's ship when he docks in the harbor and asks for them.

Passion fruit seeds, like the other exotic seeds, are meant for the Greenhouse on the Main farm, the Gourmet farm and the Flower farm and unlock from level 30. Once planted they grow into Passion fruit, a fruit you won't find in the regular shop. They cost more than fig seeds, which reflects the fact that passion fruit sits one step higher in the production chain. They are used mainly as an input for exports and for more advanced refinement in the laboratory.

How to get it

Passion fruit seeds aren't sold in the shop and have no recipe, so you can't produce them in any building. They arrive in your temporary storage from mission rewards, events and mystery boxes, so in practice it's purely a matter of collecting, not choosing between buying and producing. It pays to open boxes as they come, so you never end up with an empty Greenhouse and no seeds on hand.

What to do with it

You plant them in the Greenhouse, where Passion fruit grows. You hand it over to Captain Barnacle if he happens to be asking for it, or keep part of it for producing Special passion fruit seeds in the Farm laboratory, where passion fruit serves as one of the inputs.

Tip from a veteran player Plant passion fruit on whichever farm has a free Greenhouse slot first, all three farms work the same, so there's no reason to wait for a specific one.
Most common mistake A common slip is forgetting that passion fruit is a pricier resource than figs and using all of it on the ship's first offer instead of keeping some back for Special seeds.
