What it's for
A fountain is no Old Faithful, but it is relaxing to hear it splashing away happily.
The Fountain is a 4x4 decoration for 35000 Dollars that gives 18 happiness points, that is 1.1 per tile. There's no village bonus with it. It unlocks at level 16 and you'll find it in the building shop as well as among rewards from in-game events.
What to do with it
It works as a filler between production buildings on a mid-size farm where you don't have room for big 5x5 builds yet. It pays off for players from around level 16 upward, until they get more efficient decorations.
Tip from a veteran player I recommend combining the fountain with cheaper small decorations until you've saved up for something with a higher ratio per tile.
