The Winter fruit garden is a flexible orchard whose main strength is being able to choose the crop, but the ninth level unexpectedly pushes you dozens of player levels further than you'd expect.

The Winter fruit garden is an orchard where you pick for yourself whether to grow apples or cherries - you can change the choice any time the orchard isn't currently bearing fruit. It uses up fertilizer from the silo and gives leaves for the composter as a by-product, so it slots in logically behind the animal buildings and the silo in the farm cycle. It's a building for players who have their manure and fertilizer supply sorted out and want to turn it into fruit for the bakery and other processing buildings. It isn't sold in the shop - you get it some way other than by buying it directly.

When to build it

You can build the garden from player level 29, where it takes up a 7x7 space. Since it isn't sold in the shop as standard, build it as soon as you come by one and keep upgrading it as your need for apples and cherries grows - the build itself only takes 30 minutes, so there's no reason to put it off.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading has one quirk here - the early levels (2 to 8) can be built from player levels 29 to 66, but the ninth level suddenly demands player level 134, so that last jump comes far later than all the ones before it. The price grows at the same time from 612,000 dollars at the second level to 21,600,000 dollars at the ninth, and the build time along with it, from 9 hours to more than 2.5 days.
