The mango plantation is the fastest and cheapest of the three island plantations – it makes mangoes from island fertilizer and throws in tropical leaves as a by-product for the composter. It sits on an 8x8 area and it's the logical first choice if you're only just getting fruit production going on the Island farm. One production cycle takes 2 hours 20 minutes, so it works nicely for players who come back to the farm several times a day. It's the plantation for anyone who wants to start with island plantations without big fertilizer demands.

When to build it

The mango plantation is the cheapest of the three to build and to run, so it's the natural first choice once you have a working silo making fertilizer on the Island farm. A single cycle needs just 20 units of island fertilizer, considerably less than the coconut or banana plantation, so you can get by with a smaller stock. How many to build depends mainly on how much fertilizer your silo actually makes – there's no point having more plantations than you can feed.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading the mango plantation is worth it almost unconditionally, because the 20 units of fertilizer and the 2 hour 20 minute cycle stay the same at every level, while the mango yield climbs from 120 to 300 units at maximum level. That's two and a half times the fruit for free, just for the cost of upgrading the building itself, plus a few more tropical leaves on top. I can't see a single reason to leave the plantation at a low level if you have the means to upgrade it.

Tip from a veteran player Combine ordinary island fertilizer with premium fertilizer whenever you have it – it gives you the same extra mango yield with bonus XP, so don't save it up.

Most common mistake A common one is building more mango plantations straight away than the silo can keep supplied with fertilizer – the plantations then just stand around empty while fertilizer is missing.
