I take it as free large-scale fruit production for the Main farm that really rewards upgrading. The only catch is that you have to get your hands on it first, because it is not in the shop.

The Glorious fruit garden is the biggest type of orchard on the Main farm and it turns fertilizers into apples, cherries and leaves, or with the higher recipes even into silk or wind apples. Unlike the almond orchards on the Gourmet farm you won't buy it in the shop, so you have to get hold of it another way. It takes 7x14 tiles and even at level one it can make 423 apples instantly out of ten seaweed fertilizers. It suits players from level 29 who are running large-scale fruit production on the Main farm and have enough fertilizer to cover the consumption.

When to build it

Since it can't be bought in the shop, you build it as soon as you get it, and given that the first level costs nothing it pays to put it up the moment you can. Eight workers to start is not an extreme demand, but check in advance whether you have some happiness headroom on the Main farm. One is enough, because another 7x14 footprint would serve you better elsewhere.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading is worth it, apple production roughly doubles from the first to the ninth level, with seaweed fertilizer going from 423 to 900 pieces at zero production time. Count on the upgrade price climbing to 21.6 million dollars at the last level though, and on another big jump in the required player level between level eight (player level 66) and nine (player level 134).
