What it's for

The dairy allows you to use ingredients produced on your farm to make dairy goods. Upgrading the dairy will unlock new recipes and also reduce the amount of ingredients required to produce dairy goods.

Produces

The Dairy is a processing building where you turn raw goods from the farm - milk, honey, olive oil, eggs or fruit - into finished dairy products like frozen yogurt, cheese or flan. It sits at the very end of the farm cycle, so it needs supplies from the cowshed, the apiary, the orchards and your other animal buildings, and it only pays off once you have all of those up and running. Besides selling the products, its main job is filling dairy contracts at the market, which pay you in joker tokens. This is a building for an advanced player who has the farm wired into a working cycle and wants more out of it than just raw goods.

When to build it

You can't build the Dairy until player level 149, so you won't even get near it before then - it's a late building for an established farm. Once you reach that level, build it straight away, because without it you can't touch the market contracts at all - you need at least one working Dairy on your main farm. One is plenty for normal play; a second one only makes sense if you want to run more recipes at once and have enough goods and workers to keep both of them busy.

Is it worth upgrading

The level table shows that every step mainly pushes up the worker requirement - from 10 at the first step to 48 at the ninth - along with the XP you get for finishing the upgrade.The building only has one level, which in game means that at the top level you unlock the apple milkshake and flan recipes that aren't available at level one. On top of that, production at the higher level hands out experience points for every finished batch, so the Dairy also turns into a decent XP source.

Tip from a veteran player Before you start building the Dairy, have enough milk, honey and olive oil production running, otherwise it will just sit there empty - the recipes eat through goods dozens to hundreds of units at a time.

Most common mistake The most common mistake is building the Dairy and then having nothing to put in it - players underestimate how much milk, honey or eggs the recipes swallow, and the building stands idle half the time.
