A simple and cheap recipe that lets you keep the elderberry cycle running, as long as you keep an eye on your stock of both catalyst and fruit.

You produce Special elderberry seeds from level 11 of the Farm laboratory on the Main farm, the Gourmet farm and the Flower farm, while planting them in the Greenhouse is available from game level 30. Unlike the basic exotic seeds in this overview they have their own recipe, so you don't have to wait for them from rewards or boxes. You make them from Common catalyst and Elderberries, that is, the fruit that itself grew from these seeds. The price of 1250 Gold makes them the cheapest of the four special seeds in the overview.

How to get it

The fastest and cheapest way to get them is directly in the Farm laboratory from building level 11 upwards, where you produce them from 8 Common catalyst and one Elderberry in one minute and twenty seconds, and the recipe doesn't change up to laboratory level 24, so there's no reason to wait for a higher building level for a better price. You can't buy them in the shop at all, the laboratory is the only way.

What to do with it

You plant the produced seeds back in the Greenhouse, where they grow into more Elderberries, so through the cycle of catalyst and elderberries you keep topping up your fruit stock without waiting for new seed packs from elsewhere. You can then offer the elderberries to Captain Barnacle when he is asking for them.
