Saving Chicklet

Saving Chicklet, called Chicklet's Hero in the game, is a time-limited event in which I help a farmer cure a sick chick. The recipe for the medicine needs herbs, which appear after harvesting fields on the main farm, and collecting them moves a thermometer showing how well the chick's fever is coming down. There are rewards along the way and for finishing the event, in the form of a special chicken coop and a decoration.

The event doesn't need any special investment or an extra building, normal work on the fields is enough, so it's worth taking part whenever it happens to be running. On top of that the main reward, Chicklet's coop, isn't just a decoration but a working building that goes on producing eggs and manure, so the time you put in keeps paying off after the event ends.

A sick chick needs medicine brewed from herbs

The Saving Chicklet event is built around the story of a farmer looking after a poorly little chick - she rescued it from its awful previous owners a while back and now she's worried about it, because it has come down with a fever. According to her it needs medicine brewed from herbs, and she says I'll find those on my own farm.

It's a classic time-limited Big Farm challenge, with its own building and overview at the market where I can see the objectives set for me and my current progress, plus an orange timer counting down how much time is left before the event ends.

I collect herbs during ordinary field harvests

The event's mechanic doesn't need any extra building, the herbs appear right on the fields of the main farm after a harvest. So all I have to do is sow the fields, wait for them to ripen and then gather as many herbs as I can before the event is over.

Three kinds of herbs turn up in the event:

  • Green herbs
  • Blue herbs
  • Golden herbs

Because herbs only drop from harvests, I gather the most in a day by sowing and harvesting my fields as often as possible, ideally with shorter-growing crops I can bring in several times a day.

The herbs I gather bring the chick's fever down on the thermometer

Progress in the event is shown as a thermometer - the more herbs I gather, the further the chick's fever drops. I'll find this gauge in the event building at the market along with an overview of the objectives I have and haven't completed.

Reaching the individual milestones on the way to curing the chick sends me reward packages as I go, so I'm not relying on a single final reward at the end of the event.

The main reward is the special Chicklet's coop and a decoration

For finishing the event successfully I get Chicklet's coop and one decoration. Both rewards show up in the farm's inventory as soon as the event ends, so there's nothing to claim by hand anywhere.

Chicklet's coop works like an ordinary chicken coop, producing eggs plus manure as a by-product, which goes into the silo. To run, it needs chicken feed, which is made from corn in the windmill. So it pays to have the windmill and a stock of corn ready in advance, so I can put the new coop properly to work the moment I get it.

Buildings and products mentioned in the text

Tip from a veteran player I collect the herbs right after every harvest on all the farm's fields, not just the ones I notice first, because it's easy to forget the fields out on the edges and lose a chunk of progress on the thermometer that way.
Most common mistake The most common mistake is leaving the sowing and harvesting until the last days of the event. Herbs only drop from harvests, so the sooner and the more often I sow and harvest my fields, the more of them I gather before the timer runs down to zero.
