You don't pay dollars or gold for this building, you just meet the condition to get it, and thanks to the flexibility between two crops it pays off superbly. I recommend upgrading it alongside the growth of your fertilizer production, otherwise it stays below its capacity.

The Versatile fruit grove is an orchard on the Gourmet farm where the same fertilizer gets you either peaches or almonds, depending on what you pick while the grove isn't producing. It sits at the end of the farm cycle, so it needs fertilizer you first make in the silo from manure, and alongside the main crop you also get leaves for the composter every time. It takes up a 7x7 area and already needs 5 workers at level one, so it's not a fit for the very early game. It's a building for players who have the manure and fertilizer cycle up and running and want to squeeze ingredients for the bakery and further processing out of it too.

When to build it

It doesn't come into the game through a shop purchase, you get it by completing a quest, unlocking a farm or in an event, so the timing isn't really up to you. Once you get it, build it right away, because without it you won't get peaches or almonds on the Gourmet farm, and at level one you can manage it with five workers, which players from level 29 usually have. Given the 7x7 size and the growing worker demands, up to 23 at the top level, one grove was enough for me for a long time, until I had a surplus of both fertilizer and people for a second one.

Is it worth upgrading

It pays to upgrade alongside the growth of your fertilizer production in the silo. At level one, 30 units of seaweed fertilizer get you 312 peaches, at the top level the same batch of ingredients already gets you 663 peaches, more than double. The yield of leaves and almonds grows too, so a higher level means turning fertilizer into final products more efficiently. But the price and time of upgrades climb steeply, from 612 thousand dollars at level two to 21.6 million at level nine, and the last level is on top of that gated behind player level 145, so realistically you'll only get there in the late game.

Tip from a veteran player Before you use the fertilizer, decide whether you want peaches or almonds, because you can only switch the crop while the grove isn't producing anything, you can't change your pick in the middle of production.

Most common mistake Players often leave the grove empty for no reason just because they don't have fertilizer on hand, when all it takes is planning the silo production one step ahead so the manure turns into fertilizer right when the grove is harvested.
