The Versatile fruit garden is a 7x7 orchard on the Main farm where you get to choose whether to grow apples or cherries - you make the choice whenever the orchard isn't currently producing. Besides the main crop, it also drops leaves into the composter. It can't be bought in the shop, you get it another way, so it isn't a building you plan ahead for based on your money. It's an interesting option for players who want one orchard on the Main farm for two different resources instead of two separate buildings.

When to build it

Build the garden as soon as you get it - it becomes available from player level 29. Thanks to the ability to switch between apples and cherries, one of these is enough where you'd otherwise need two different orchards side by side.

Is it worth upgrading

Upgrading makes sense gradually as your fertilizer production in the silo grows. At level one, 10 units of seaweed fertilizer yield 423 apples, while at the maximum ninth level that's already 900 apples for the same instant time. Likewise with super fertilizer, the yield goes from 390 to 820 units for the same 3 hours. The last level only unlocks at player level 134, though, so you'll only max it out in the late stage of the game.
