The orca pool is the second animal building on the Obsidian farm and it works on the same principle as the lizard enclosure – it turns orca feed into orcas and gives you obsidian manure as a by-product. The difference lies in the production ratio, because one batch takes 2 hours 40 minutes, but alongside 42 orcas it also brings 40 units of manure, five times more than the lizard enclosure. You have to cook the orca feed yourself in the feed kitchen out of king salmon and sage. It's a building for anyone who wants to squeeze mainly manure out of the Obsidian farm for further processing and doesn't mind a longer production cycle.

When to build it

Just like the lizard enclosure, the orca pool is worth building right at the start of the Obsidian farm, as the prices and the required player level are identical for both buildings at every level. Because one batch runs for almost three hours, it pays to have several pools side by side if you want a steady flow of manure from the Obsidian farm and don't want to spend a whole afternoon waiting on a single production run.

Is it worth upgrading

Here too the level table shows that the production itself doesn't change from level 1 to the highest level – it's still 42 orcas and 40 manure in 2 hours 40 minutes out of 10 units of feed. Higher levels therefore mainly give you more XP (up to 9500 at level six) and they're necessary if you want to put more workers into the pool, as their number grows from 6 to 16. For pure manure and orca output even a low level is enough, as long as XP isn't your main goal.

Tip from a veteran player If what you're really after is obsidian manure for further processing, for example in the insulated composter, the orca pool is the more efficient choice than the lizard enclosure – one batch gives five times more manure, even though it takes longer.

Most common mistake Players often pack orca pools as densely as lizard enclosures and expect a similarly quick turnaround, but with a production time of 2 hours 40 minutes the orca feed just piles up on them and the feed kitchen runs empty for nothing.
