What it's for

Can be used on a sheep pen to start production.

Sheep feed is a feed I grind in the Windmill (or the Efficient windmill) from Oats. You use it to start production in the Sheep pen and its upgraded versions, so it is the first link in the chain that leads to raw wool. Unlike the pricier feeds it cannot be bought in the shop, so you always have to make it yourself. It is the workhorse among sheep feeds, nothing special, but without it the sheep pen won't move.

How to get it

It is produced exclusively in the Windmill from Oats, at windmill level 1 you get 10 units of feed from 60 units of oats in 25 minutes. It pays to level the windmill, because both oat consumption and production time drop with each level – at level 10 you need only 48 oats and it is done in 4 minutes. There is no other way to get this feed in the game.

What to do with it

I send the finished feed straight to the Sheep pen (or its upgraded variants), where it turns into Manure and Raw wool. I keep part of it aside and send it to the Farm laboratory, where it is cooked into Premium sheep feed.

Tip from a veteran player Before you stockpile a big supply, think about whether you would rather send part of the oats towards Premium or Super feed – the higher feeds pay off in wool yield over a longer game.

Most common mistake A common one is keeping this basic feed running in the sheep pen even when you already have the pricier feed with a bonus ready – that way you needlessly miss out on the increased production or the bonus XP.
